INPM

The International Network on Personal Meaning (INPM) was inspired by Viktor E. Frankl’s ideas. Since its inception in March 1998, the mission of INPM has been very clear:

The INPM is dedicated to advancing health, spirituality, peace, and human fulfillment through research, education, and services with a focus on the universal human quest for meaning.

The INPM believes that high-quality scientific research on the positive psychology of meaning in major life domains can contribute significantly to the well-being of individuals and communities. INPM also believes in the power of publication, education, and counseling/consultation in personal and societal transformation. Therefore, the objectives and activities of INPM are all related to the Mission Statement.

We have organized eight successful Biennial International Meaning Conferences, published a bi-monthly popular Positive Living Newsletter, and launched the International Journal of Existential Psychology and Psychotherapy. The ninth International Meaning Conference will take place July 28-31, 2016 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In the past few years, the meaning-centered approach has appealed not only to psychologists and counselors, but also to medical doctors, occupational therapists, group facilitators, and management educators. Asia seems particularly interested in this approach, because of its emphasis on what really matters in life and how internal transformation can overcome external circumstances.
